Spiritual Benefits of Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding is a special moment of closeness when the heart of the mother is more open and with the milk the baby is absorbing love. This flow and exchange of love between mom and kid creates a feeling of satisfaction and happiness for both baby and mother.

During the pregnancy mother and fetus are physically and spiritually one - heart to heart, soul to soul. The baby safely grows inside the womb and the future mom has time to prepare, maturate and build deep spiritual bonding of love with the baby.

A truly loving mom will extend this profound connection and will keep her little one happy and healthy - close to her heart as much as possible. One early separation from the mother may cause a deep emotional trauma of feeling less love worthy or fear of being abandoned. Kids are very sensitive and vulnerable. The spiritual bonding between mother and baby is essential for the emotional health of the child and will influence its social behavior and sexual attitude as an adolescent and adult.

The newborn infant still entirely depends on the mother - for nutrition, protection, love and care.

One very important part to satisfy the spiritual and nutritional needs of the baby is the breastfeeding.

Mother's milk is the best food for an infant supplying one perfect combination of proteins, fats, carbohydrates, minerals and fluids which are easily digested and absorbed  to fill the needs of the very intense growth and development of the newborn baby and the little kid. No one formula milk could substitute the unique ingredients of mother milk because formulas are made from processed cow milk - the proteins of cow milk are different and hard to digest and some babies have tummy problems or develop allergic reaction and health problems for years. Breastfeeding reduces the risk of allergies such as atopic dermatitis and bronchial asthma and and may protect a child from chronic stomach problems. Mother milk feeding promotes significantly the growth and maturation of the baby's digestive system which is not accomplished until around 6 months of age.

Human milk carries immune factors which protect the baby  from many different infections: gastrointestinal infections, respiratory infection, meningitis, ear infections and urinary tract infections.

In addition breast milk contains the fatty acids essential for the development of the baby's nervous system and vision.

Breastfeeding is also the most convenient method of feeding: mother's milk comes always fresh, delicious, naturally clean and warm. There is no preparation and it is always available and free.

Lactation is beneficial for the mother also. Breastfeeding mother is glad giving plenty of love and the best nourishment to her little one and enjoys emotional and hormonal balance. The
act of breastfeeding promotes the recovery of the uterus and reduces the risk of developing a breast cancer, ovarian neoplastic disease, and endometrial carcinoma.

Children grow up faster and stronger if they are allowed to do whatever they are attracted and challenged to do on their own. The best way to educate children is to allow them all - but to teach them to do all safely and to explain them in clear words all potential dangers and how to avoid dangers by properly handle objects or situations.

If everything is allowed, then nothing has to be done in secret or hidden. Hence all playing in nature takes place in public and thus more or less under some control and supervision of adults with more experience. Accidents often occur when things have to be done in secret. Hidden from adults or parents. In hiding the natural relaxation is gone, the flow and inspiration as well. Stress occurs in children because they have to hurry to make sure no adults see what they do and under such artificial and tense situations accidents occur. The fearful attracts the object of fear. Accidents occur to show the parents that it would have been better to explain their children how to do all safely by allowing children to practice under parental or adult's guidance and supervision the first few times. In God's creation everything is allowed and God always is available to all to guide, to advise, to show better or safer methods or to show well in time when things risk to get out of control. We on earth could be very same - positive examples in all we do to allow all our children as well as all our neighbor's children to do exactly what we do and do to it the way we do it.

The result of allowing children to do all - while at the same time teaching children how to do all safely or how to assess properly dangers in a particular situation will lead to more mature happy children ready to experiment on their own and to make decisions and to properly assess situations in life to avoid all accidents.

Only activities that are prohibited are of interest to children. If you allow all, then children can make up their own mind and happy children have their own mind and their own healthy judgment as well. Sometimes common sense in happy children is far better developed than common sense in unhappy adults.

Spiritual Guidance

I started to feel spiritual guidance during my first visit to Hans in October 2001. This very exiting time with Gurudeva I described in the chapter Facing God and the deep spiritual experience of seeing The Star of Bethlehem.

Since then I feel like my Gurudeva is always with me looking through my eyes - sees what I see, feels what I feel and somehow I know what to do.

Once in a while I lose this perception usually when I am in nonspiritual surrounding and when my kriya yoga is not efficient.

When I am with my husband I can regain the love feeling and inspiration for more and better spiritual practice.

Spending time in nature helps me a lot to balance emotionnaly and kriya yoga feels more powerful.
